Aquatic plants

Plants that can grow in water are collectively referred to as aquatic plants. Aquatic plants are excellent swimmers or divers. The leaves are soft and transparent, and some are filamentous, such as Ceratophyllum. Filamentous leaves can greatly increase the contact area with water, so that the leaves can maximize the light that is rarely available in water, absorb little dissolved carbon dioxide in water, and ensure the progress of photosynthesis. According to the lifestyle of aquatic plants, they are generally divided into the following categories: emergent plants, floating leaf plants, submerged plants, floating plants and hygrophytes. The restoration and reconstruction of aquatic plants plays an important role in the steady-state transformation of freshwater ecosystems (from turbid water to clear water), and is the main measure of water ecological restoration.
